I realize everyone has their unique vision of what they would like for their newborn session. I offer 3 options: A Full Newborn session, A Mini Newborn session, and Grow With Me sessions which capture a year of these most precious milestones. And don’t forget about maternity sessions. I offer either a full or the option of a mini when you book at the same time as your newborn session! You can see Teagan’s maternity session here.
When shooting a full newborn session like I did with beautiful little Teagan, I consult with each client. We talk about what they envision, the colors of their home and where they will be hanging their artwork. We talk about any special items they would like to use during our shoot such as a baby blanket that once belonged to Daddy or a quilt made by Grandma. Items like this really add emotion to your gallery.
Once we have decided on a color palette, I begin combining a unique set list complete with all props, headbands, hats, wraps, etc.
When younger siblings are involved, I usually start with the family portion of our session. This is a relaxed lifestyle session within my clients’ home. We shoot in the nursery or other rooms that the family typically spends their time. I enjoy capturing real moments that can only be capture at home.
Once siblings are ready to go relax, we move onto the blanket set.
I also make it a point to capture all of the little parts that, as parents, we hold so dear.
Although I do pose baby, I also am somewhat baby led. I like to take their cues – are they comfortable, hungry, etc. Based on that, I move onto my next set. In this case, Teagan was still trying to settle so I pulled out some extra soft fur.
Prop set was next.
And finally, aerial.
These are just a few samples of our full session together. I can’t wait to deliver this darling gallery! Stay tuned for an example of a mini newborn session!
“I absolutely love what I do. My passion is capturing the true essence of who you are as a family. It is an absolute honor to photograph these once in a lifetime moments that are all too quickly in the past. I am a mother of 2 myself and I take that depth of responsibility to heart.”
